Visiting with Connor

Sad that this is the last time we will see Connor for some time.  He leaves Tuesday for Camp Johnson, NC to begin his Admin Logistics training.  During that training period he will be told what his final duty station will be.  He is understandably a bit nervous but has a few guys who are going to the same destination.  We are so very proud of him.

This weekend is the last one that Connor is at Camp Pendleton before he graduates from SOI and heads to Camp Johnson for his MOS training.  Today Katrin and her family visited with him.

Hotel Del Coronado and Old Town

Today we took a drive to Coronado and walked around the Hotel Del.  Forgot what a beautiful place that is.  Afterwards we went to Old Town and had lunch and saw the sights.

San Diego Zoo

My brother and sister-in-law arrived yesterday so we are playing tour guide for a few days.  Today's stop was the zoo where Michele wanted to see the pandas; of course we get to the exhibit and they were sleeping.  We had a great time though.

And college begins

Kelleigh and Ryan both start at new schools today - Kell at Palomar College and Ryan at Irvine Valley.

Peacocks

We saw this beautiful peacock but I didn't get a picture the first time we saw him.  Fortunately, we saw him again and got pictures.

Dunns River Falls

One of the suggested tours was hiking to the top of Dunns River Falls.  It was surprisingly very crowded but fun!  One of the couples we'd met at dinner the night before were with our group and fun to spend the morning with.

 

Jamaica

Mark and I traveled to San Sousi, Jamaica, for a short vacation in celebration of our anniversary.  The weather was perfect and the accomodations clean and big.  It was our first time at an all-inclusive resort and it was great.  The grounds were very pretty and the staff friendly.  Mark tried scuba diving and paddleboarding while I enjoyed lounging on the beach.

Kelleigh got to spend the afternoon having tea with her girlfriends from MCS before they all left for their respective colleges.

Oregon

Ryan and his girlfriend, Shazy, took a quick weekend trip to Oregon as he wanted her to see how beautiful it is.  He hopes to do his last years of college at a college there.

Big news in the neighborhood - Kristpy Kreme is Open!!

School of Infantry

Connor leaves today to begin his School of Infantry training for the next five weeks at Camp Pendleton.  During his time here he will find out what base he will be sent to for his MOS training.  We will only get to talk with him on the weekends and see him one day before he ships out.
