Crops

While the crops may not be as plentiful as I'd hoped, they are delicious nonetheless!

Garden progress

While slow, we are making progress!  I had to replant the onions and lettuce so may end up with double the crop.  The asparagus are the most interesting to watch as they are different day-to-day.

Grow, grow, grow

The garden is in!  I hope to win the war against creatures this year although there was a baby bunny next to the pool equipment this morning.  Hopefully we closed up the only spot it could possibly be coming through.  The greenhouses are very nifty but next year we will organize the area a little differently.

Garden prep underway

The garden prep started today with the help of our furry kids ... tomorrow the greenhouse covers go on.

Getting ready to garden!

I'm so excited to find the perfect garden bed and cover for it.  Last year we had so many problems with creatures eating things as they matured so this year I'm hoping to outsmart them.  I found these at Home Depot and the sizes were perfect ...

I also got the raspberry bush planted and my tomatoes are coming up too!

Nature time

We often walk on a path that takes us near a creek bed.  My favorite part is seeing the duck families that live there.   The mallards heads are so beautiful as the sun shines on them.

It makes me happy to see all the seeds and bulb sets out even though it's a while until Spring even here in San Diego.  I looked everywhere for green onion sets last year to no avail so had to grab them while I could.  This time the raspberry bush is going into a pot ... learned that the hard way after it overtook two garden plots at a previous home!  Going to try asparagus this year too - even if it means we get only three stalks!
